We had a wonderful stay at La Grange du Moulin. Wendy and Chris are brilliant hosts and we felt instantly relaxed ! Our 2 year old had lots of fun playing in the garden which we could see from our gite. The gite itself had everything we could need for a toddler in tow. The activities that went on for the week were great fun. There is lots to see and do in the area. We can't wait to come back !
The La Grange du Moulin child friendly gites property located in SW France , welcomes families. The family friendly holiday property has two safely enclosed heated swimming pools, one specifically for toddlers. There's a large enclosed play garden filled with toys and we hold children and toddler activities each week such as pottery and fabric painting.
Horloge rental gite sleeps four in three bedrooms, ideally 2 adults and up to 2 children plus a cot. The master bedroom has a king sized bed (160x200) with fitted wardrobe and set of draws, there are two single rooms, both have room for a cot.
The bathroom has a full bath with shower attachment over the bath, sink and loo. A baby bath / baby seat can be provided and there is a non slip mat too.
Downstairs is an open plan living, dining and kitchen area. The kitchen is equipped with everything you will need for a comfortable self catering stay including dishwasher, electric oven/grill, 4 ring gas hob, fridge freezer, microwave and all the crockery and cutlery needed for a self catering holiday. There are also childrens plastic plates etc and a hand blender for purees.
Once the children are in bed you can enjoy a relaxing glass of wine and watch the night sky .
Horloge is a characterful family gîte at La Grange du Moulin, sleeping up to 4 guests plus babies in cots. It sits third in the terrace and directly opposite the sandpit and enclosed play garden—so parents can relax on the terrace with a glass of local Pineau while keeping an eye on the kids.
With exposed stone walls and thick traditional masonry, it offers a cool, cellar-like retreat from the midday sun.
Living & Dining Area
The ground floor features a spacious open-plan layout (approximately 6m x 6m per floor) combining the living, dining, and kitchen areas.
- Kitchen Appliances: Dishwasher, 4-ring gas hob, worktop electric oven/grill, microwave, fridge-freezer, and electric kettle.
- Cookware & Tableware: Fully equipped for self-catering, including essential cookware, dedicated children's plastic plates, bowls, cutlery, and a hand blender for purees.
Family Features
As part of La Grange du Moulin—an exclusive retreat reserved solely for families with babies, toddlers, and young children—all cottages come equipped with full baby and toddler gear:
- Included Gear: Cot, high chair, booster seat, changing mat, potty, toilet trainer seat, toddler step, stair barriers, toys, and books.
Bedrooms & Bathroom
An open-tread, cast-iron spiral staircase leads up to the first floor, which houses all three bedrooms and the family bathroom:
- Bedroom 1: Double bedroom with a chest of drawers and hanging space (slightly more cozy than in Papillon or Grenier, making room for a larger third bedroom).
- Bedroom 2: Single bedroom with a chest of drawers and wardrobe.
- Bedroom 3: Single bedroom and a small set of drawers plus hanging space.
- Bathroom: Modern bathroom with a bath, shower attachment, toilet, basin, excellent water pressure, and plenty of hot water.
Outdoor Spaces & Group Stays
- Terrace & Barbecue: Features an open front terrace with a charcoal barbecue directly opposite the play area.
- Group Option: Ideal to book together with neighboring Ruche cottage; the shared space between the two allows tables to be joined for group dining.
Our family holiday rental properties are located in the heart of the French countryside with lovely views all around. Perfect for a relaxing child friendly family holiday. Centrally located in the Charente Maritime department of SW France, we are an easy drive to hundreds of km of sandy beaches. The Charente Maritime is also easy to get to with airports in la Rochelle, Bordeaux, Nantes, Poitiers and Limoges all accessible. The nearest port to the Charente Maritime is the French port of St Malo.
We have other family holiday properties in the SW France area suitable for older children and teens and also a family friendly private villa for families or adult only groups.
The pool area is completely enclosed, has a child safety latch on the gate and also has an alarm to comply with French safety regulations.
All the family holiday rental gites have access to the communal laundry room with washing machines, tumble dryer, rotary dryer - all free of charge. Each holiday cottage also has an iron, ironing board and hairdryer.
Horloge family holiday cottage has a terrace front and back. Equipped with garden tables and chairs, parasol and bbq - essential for a self catering holiday in rural France.
Your children can run freely in and out to the communal play garden, filled with toys.
