current information for May and June reservations

We hope you and your family are all well. This post is regarding the current Covid 19 crisis  .

Things are changing quickly and no one knows just what position countries will be in a week never mind in 2 months when we open for the summer 2020 season at La Grange du Moulin and Les Vallaies.

We would like to hope that life will be starting to return to some sort of normality by then. However we thought it important to put in place some reassurances for those that have already booked with us to give as much flexibility to react to the changing situation.

These are exceptional circumstances so we have come up with a plan to be as flexible as we possibly can regarding changes that may need to be made regarding your reservation and for anyone thinking about booking with us, pending any new government, airline and ferry decisions in the coming weeks/months. These are as follows:

  • We will be opening for the season as normal, on the 20th May and will remain open throughout the full season, subject to Government restrictions.  Therefore at present, you can still travel to France from May onwards and enjoy your stay with us as planned.

  • We will be opening exceptionally through October until the end of the October half term, so that those that need and want to change their dates to later in the year have a greater choice of dates to choose from. Families booked in for the May half term will have first refusal on the October half term dates.

  • For May and June reservations we are now allowing late payment of balances to up to 10 days before arrival (rather than the normal 10 weeks) so you have more flexibility to make a decision as to whether to travel, move dates or cancel, when we know more about the situation at that time.

  • For July and August reservations, we may make a similar decision nearer the time if required, depending on the situation at that time but at the moment invoices will be sent and balances due on the scheduled date, we will inform you by email of any changes nearer the time.

It's a beautiful place to be !

At this moment in France, although schools, leisure facilities, bars and restaurants are now closed, the supermarkets, markets, boulangeries, banks, petrol stations, pharmacies, doctors and of course hospitals are all still open and functioning well. France has one of the best health systems in the world. Hotels and other accommodation such as gites are still open and public transport is still running.

All being well you'll be enjoying your holiday in France in just a few months time and all the tourist attractions and restaurants will be open again. You may be anxious about travelling but as long as the authorities don't say you can't then a break away from it all might be just the tonic you need, especially to such a beautiful rural location. There is still lots to do in the area which doesn't require mixing in big crowds.

We are surrounded by open countryside. We regularly go walking and don't see a soul. There are woods to explore and miles of country lanes and tracks to cycle along too. We are partnered with a superb bike hire company who will deliver the bikes to your gite as well.

There are hundreds of miles of coastline within an hours drive, so the busy popular beaches can be avoided and you can certainly find a quiet spot in which to relax. There are also rivers where you can go swimming just a 10 min drive away and a swimming lake just 30 mins away where you won't see more than a couple of other families at any one time.

There are lot's of small local producers who will be keen to let you taste and sell you their wine, Pineau, Cognac and honey, just knock on their door.

We offer on site activities for children and adults.

Or just kick back and relax on site. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Do not hesitate to ask any questions you may have at any time.
