We’ve put together answers to the most common queries from parents about our gîtes, pools, play areas, beaches, and local attractions. Whether you’re wondering about baby equipment, safety, or local activities, you’ll find all the practical info you need right here.

How far is the beach & main towns?

There is a sandy beach and swimming lake just 30mins away. The coast is a 1hr drive. Our local town is 15mins away.

St Jean d'Angely is our local town where you go for shopping and market. Saintes and Cognac are just 30 mins and Bordeaux is about 1 hour 30 minutes by car.

What if something isn’t right during our stay?

We live onsite so are available daily and 24/7 in an emergency

  • Because this is a family-run business, we care deeply about our guests’ experience. 
  • If you have a question or concern during your stay, we’ll go above and beyond to help quickly and practically.


For many parents this is their first holiday abroad with children. Having someone on hand to recommend a beach or book a Drs appointment is invaluable. We are regularly praised for our availability when needed but also that we are not intrusive.

What about medical care or emergencies?

Peace of mind is important when travelling abroad with babies or when pregnant.

France has an excellent healthcare system.  Bring your European health card / Ghic.



What ages is the property suitable for?

Ages between 0 to 8 years. Our property is aimed specifically for families with babies, toddlers and young children.

  • Toddler & baby equipment supplied as standard
  • Enclosed gardens and play areas
  • Quiet surroundings for a restful stay
  • Enclosed pool area with a pool just for toddlers


Facilities, activities and the layout are all planned with under-8s in mind.

Is there a dishwasher?

Yes, each cottage has a dishwasher. Each gîte comes with everything a family needs for a self catering stay:

  • Fully equipped kitchen with cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, and dishwasher
  • Linen, towels, and baby equipment on request
  • Large garden, outdoor seating, and BBQ

Can we bring our dog?

No, we don't accept pets. Your family friend must stay at home

  • Ensures a safe, clean, and worry-free environment
  • Parents can relax while the little ones play safely.
  • Cottages remain fur free for families who prefer a pet free environment



Is there a washing machine?

Yes. It's certainly an essential item when holidaying with young children & babies.

  • Laundry room onsite with several washing machines free of charge
  • Individual drying racks, large rotary dryer & a tumble dryer too
  • Iron and board in each cottage


Save room in the car.  Avoid excess baggage costs

Are there blackout blinds?

Yes, Shutters or blackout curtains help with naps and early bedtimes and are standard in every cottage.

  • Individual bedrooms allow children to go to bed at different times
  • Parents can sit outside their cottage and read a book or sunbathe whilst their child naps
  • We have quiet time after 9pm so younger children can sleep
  • We are exclusively for families with young children so no teens staying up late to disturb you


Many parents tell us this makes a huge difference compared to hotels.

Is the pool heated?

Yes, both pools are heated.

The toddler pool is set to 30c; the main pool is set to 28c. Both are heated using a heat pump and pool temperatures depend also on the ambient air temperature so the actual temperature will vary throughout the season and time of day.

Is there wifi?

Yes. We have fibre installed and all the cottages have wifi throughout the cottage which can also be accessed outside on your terrace.


You can also access the wifi in some of the outdoor areas

Is there air conditioning?

No, we don't have air conditioning. The cottages stay pleasantly cool  even in summer thanks to:

  • Thick stone walls & tiled floors
  • Traditional shutters keeping the sun out
  • Fans in each bedroom for extra comfort
  • We don't have it in our own house either, it rarely gets that hot


Relax in the naturally cool rooms and enjoy a comfortable night’s sleep without needing extra equipment.
